"Autumn Harvest"

Autumn Harvest
is a new, one-off original design Irish dance dress from Silverlode
Needlecraft, inspired by nature images (butterflies, acorns, leaves), and the
colors of Autumn, the most glorious season of the year.
The primary base
fabric is an orange metallic silk with a red-gold shine, and the sleeves and
upper bodice are made of an orange paisley brocade. A glittery red “falling
rain” netting, and a multicolor wheat-harvest netting, frame some of the
appliqué. The appliqué consists of various metallic fabrics in shades of green
(especially lime-green), orange, gold, copper, red, and purple. The embroidery
is freehand machine work in metallic shades of the same colors. The
pleats—shaped box pleats in front and straight in the back—are a peach-orange
square glitterdot. The skirt lining and bloomers are made of a wild gold lycra
w/ shades of purplish-copper. The dress is accented with Swarovski crystals in
the colors of Fire Opal, Citrine, and Sun Aurora Borealis. There are over 400
crystals on this dress.
Autumn Harvest
was completed in early September, 2006, for a dancer in California.
