The “Eternal Rose” design, made by special request in memory of Amelia’s
grandmother, is inspired by Holland’s “Delft” china, with its imagery of tulips
and vines, the blue against the white, in combination with traditional Celtic
knotwork. Special emphasis is given to the Rose, also in memory of her
grandmother.
The main fabric is “Royal” blue metallic silk, and the front bodice and front
skirt panels are made of a metallic silver-white brocade. The appliqué and
embroidery are in various metallic shades of blue and silver-white, and all of
the satin stitching—including the Elvish—is freehand machine work. The dress is
accented with Swarovski (genuine Austrian) crystals in Capri Blue and Crystal
Aurora Borealis.
The Elvish script is an approximate translation of a cherished line from a song,
associated with Amelia’s grandmother. “Eternal Rose” was completed in June of
2005. |
