“The base fabric of
this bold, “fiery” Irish dance dress is a coral-gold metallic silk fused onto
the cranberry-red “falling rain” netting. The appliqué fabrics include metallic
shades of red, black, copper, and gold. All of the embroidery is freehand
machine satin stitching in similar metallic shades. The skirt lining is made of
a metallic peach-gold brocade, and the bloomers are made of a pale orange liquid
lame. The dress is accented with Swarovski (genuine Austrian) crystals, in red
and the peach-gold Sun Aurora Borealis.
“Flower and Flame” was completed in September of 2005, for Kristin Leonard of
the Comerford School of Irish Dance. |
