Flower in Sunrise is an original, one-off design created for Molly O’Donnell.  The rosy-golden colors echo the time of dawn, and the budding knotwork-flowers seem to be growing from a shady ground.

The primary base fabric of this dress is a rich and shiny fuchsia-gold metallic silk, and the secondary base fabric is a fuchsia dupioni silk.  The appliqué fabrics are varying shades of purple, pink, gold, and black in metallic fabrics such as glitterdot, tissue lame, and metallic brocades.  All of the embroidery is freehand machine satin stitching in the colors of the same shades, predominantly black, pale gold, pink carnation, and lavender.

The pleats—front and back—are made of purple glitterdot, and the skirt lining and bloomers are made of an eye-popping “purple snakeskin” holographic lycra.  The dress is accented with Swarovski crystals in the colors of Rose and Crystal Aurora Borealis.

Flower in Sunrise was completed in early March, 2006.
