Eastern Market

Eastern
Market is a one-off original design by Rachel Murphy of
Silverlode Needlecraft, and brings to the beauty of Celtic
knotwork a touch of the Eastern by the influence of Islamic
design.
The bodice base is a rich dark red dupioni silk. The eight
skirt petals (four front, four back) are individually lined
with the stunning multicolor lycra of the soft underskirt,
and each petal is attached only at the waist.
The embroidery is all freehand machine work using a satin
stitch in metallic and rayon threads, and its design
utilizes many rich and elegant metallic fabrics and
brocades. The soft underskirt, skirt lining, and bloomers
are made of a stunning multicolor lycra, and the sleeves are
a multicolor glitterdot overlaid with black lace, matching
the soft underskirt. The skirt is trimmed at the end with
black lace (matching the bodice’s lace) over a white eyelet
ruffle.
The soft shawl is a sheer fabric whose design includes a
virtual marketplace of colors, as well as flower designs in
coppery sequins, and is simply pleated at the center. The
dress also includes a headband-tiara. The dress and tiara
are accented with Swarovski crystals in the colors of sun
(coppery-gold) and Light Siam (reddish) with an aurora
borealis shine. The dress is also accented with an
amber-colored carnelian pendant which hangs from the
bodice’s center.
